The Osun State Commissioner of Police, Ms Abiodun Ige, says the police are ready to provide adequate security for Saturday’s presidential and National Assembly elections.

Ige said in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Folasade Odoro, that under her watch, the police would work tirelessly to perform their duties on Saturday and thereafter.

The statement said, “In view of the presidential and National Assembly elections rescheduled to hold on February 23, 2019, the police wish to further reassure the general public that the Osun State Police Command is well-prepared to provide adequate security before, during and after the elections.

“The Commissioner of Police also assures the good people of the state that the police under her watch will work assiduously to discharge its statutory duties in line with the professional ethics of the job.”

The CP reminded the residents of the state of the restriction on vehicular movement from 6am to 6pm on Saturday.

The CP added that the command had posted mobile telephone numbers on its website, www.osunstatepolice.org, on which voters and residents could reach the police when in distress during and after the elections.
