The Nigerian Comedian Known as Woli Arole, dressed himself like a mad man on the streets of Lagos, to celebrate the world mental health day. The comedian who no one was able to recognize, explained after his walk across the streets, that the campaign opened his eyes to how people perceive those who are mentally challenged.

He explained that there were some people who saw him on the street and tried to slap him, thinking he was just a mad man, he said some gave him money, and some did not even look at his side at all. He therefore encouraged everyone to continue to advocate and create awareness about mental health, as a lot of people are going through mental challenges that are not so obvious.

Arole said, “I went on the street of Lagos dressed like a “Mentally ill” person, I saw the reaction of a lot of people, some people gave me money, some ran away from me, a guy nearly slapped me, then I realized that a lot of people look down on the “Mentally challenged” in the society, which is not too good there’s more we can collectively do in love. Our psychiatrist hospitals should be looked more into by the government. Some people are not even dressed like this physically, they look good and okay but they are going through “Mental illness” which includes Clinical depression, Anxiety disorder and Bipolar disorder and a whole lot. Please let’s take our “Mental State” seriously. Celebrating #worldmentalhealth2020”
